Long range shooting is a demanding discipline where precision, rigor, and mastery of equipment are essential. In France, several long range shooting competitions are distinguished by their formats, distances, and authorized calibers.

Below are the main long range shooting competitions in France and their specific characteristics.

King of 1 Mile in France

The King of 1 Mile France is one of the most prestigious and well-known long range shooting competitions in the world.

During the qualifying rounds, teams have 5 minutes to get into position and 9 minutes to shoot. Limited to 13 shots, shooters must engage targets in ascending order of distance and achieve a hit before moving on to the next target.

During the final, teams have 5 minutes to set up, 10 minutes to shoot, and are limited to 15 shots. Teams must engage targets in ascending order of distance, with each shooter firing a minimum of 5 rounds per target and achieving at least one hit before moving on to the next target. Any hits made after the first 5 shots on a target do not count toward the score and only allow the team to move on to the next target.

Shooting distances

Qualifications: 600–1,200 meters

Finals: 1,400–1,800 meters.

Authorized calibers

Calibers smaller than or equal to .338 LM.

King of 2 Miles in France

The King of 2 Miles France (KO2M) is an Extreme Long Range (ELR) competition that pushes shooting distances beyond 3,000 meters. Reserved for the most experienced shooters, this competition is one of the most prestigious and well-known in the world.

During the qualifying rounds, teams have 5 minutes to set up and 9 minutes to shoot at the 5 targets, with a limit of 13 shots. Teams must engage the targets in ascending order of distance and achieve a hit before moving on to the next target.

During the final, teams have 5 minutes to set up and 10 minutes to shoot, with a limit of 15 shots. The objective is to engage the targets in ascending order of distance, firing a minimum of 5 shots per target. A hit on a target after the first 5 shots on that target allows the team to move on to the next target but does not earn any points.
